I cannot believe how long it has been since I blogged. The phrase 'time flies...' has never been more accurate!
Without plying you with excuses, an awful lot has happened since my last post. July–September last year were spent furiously preparing my novel for publication. There was editing, formatting, marketing, conferences... it was a whirlwind. I took part in a blog tour and had some fantastic reviews, started to build up my mailing list, was ready to hit the ground running on publication day. And then, just a few weeks after I published, my son came racing into the world a month ahead of schedule.
In hindsight it was rather silly of me to assume I'd have time before he was born to put things in place that would allow my novel to tick along during the first few months of new-born craziness. But, having never done the 'giving birth' thing before, I didn't know any better.
So, everything writing and publishing related slowed to a halt. Actually, I did manage to do some writing in those early days because RT slept a lot and I needed something to fill my brain with. It was probably utter rubbish, but I managed a few thousand words and even started a new project.
But then he started to get bigger, and be awake more... and I fell head over heels in love with this bundle of utter wonderfulness. And, while my writing and career goals were still very much at the forefront of my mind, I was also very aware that I didn't want to waste this precious fleeting time being concerned with work.
Fast forward a few months and RT is now a whopping seven months old. He spends one morning a week with his Oma, a couple of hours here and there with his Grandma, and Mummy is firing on all cylinders once again. So, the blog is back. Watch this space...
